Why do we need to sign onto CC standards and the federal baggage instead of just using great standards?I dont see how you can say there are no evidences of negative federal consequences when Larry Shumway the state superintendent has already expressed his concern that the Department of Education is pressuring Utah in ways related to the standards. erhaps because I dont believe federal pressure is bad when it is trying to get us to close the achievement gap. Utah has failed for many years to serve its needy students in academically effective ways. while most states surrounding us are closing their achievement gap, utahs is widening.

Whether you think this is a good or a bad thing is another conversation, but its important to realize that generally speaking, flipped classrooms do not teach to the test. Flipped classrooms do not follow the model of teaching to improve standardized test scores. However, teachers and students are still required to spend a sizable portion of time preparing for state mandated testing, which in turn interrupts the flipped classroom process. There are some who believe that if every teacher starts flipping their classrooms, students will spend hours in front of a computer watching the lectures. One may argue that this has the potential to cause serious problems to students learning processes, as not everyone may be as adept to learning through a computer.
